There’s just something not right about it.

‘Thats a hard one Jamie, what are you going to do Jamie?Just live with it?’

‘Probably’.

I find it funny how often we just choose to do nothing. 

For my next and last photography assignment i have chosen to photograph, ‘the gang’. I find it interesting how the way each of us identity ourselves is very different.. but regardless of our differences we all managed to meet each other at different times and have developed a rather interesting bond that brings us together. I think it’s because on the ‘inside’ we are all just the same. The same unsure youths in search of that something.. and maybe a part of the something is what we find in each other. Yes, you are my escape. 

In terms of a stylistic direction i’m seeking inspiration from Bruce Davidson’s serious of documentary photographs called ‘the gang’ (1959) where he captures the teenage gang- The Jokers, portraying them with a sense of vigor and vitality. I feel that Davidson’s photographs give viewers an insight into the subjects feelings, into their human experience by keeping his interference to a minimum, acting as a fly-on-the-wall and capturing these people as they are and i hope to achieve the same. 

I’m getting told i’m not trying even a tenth of what i have been. O what a glorious slap in the face. I wish they would understand there are other factors at play here. I’m not giving up.
