Masculinity.

I ensured I watched Batman: The Dark Knight (2008) last night. For educational purposes of corse. I have a good 3 pages of notes roughly scribbled on paper. I should type them up and start constructing a table to break up the essay.
Concept -> Movie technique  -> link to consumption  -> link back to question????
History of Masculinity in film
50’s: Blue collar sexuality Presentation of men changed, the unrefined type was in
80’s: Fashioned man. Market for men opened. All about luxury. Clothing, gadgets, bachelor pad
90’s: Sexual man. Body image, more naked men than women
21st century: Male sexuality. All sexual orientations featured in cinema. I.e Brokeback mountain (2005) portrays the love story of two cowboys.
What I enjoyed most about this lecture was Pamela’s suggestion of the ‘We’re so not gay’ film, 300 (2006) which focus’ on the traditional fierce masculinity displayed by the Spartans. An opposition to them were the Persians who were contrastingly coloured, decadent, ill formed. They were the ‘other’. The reaction of men is hilarious!!]
The phone film tutorial was the most informative part of the day. I don’t feel so uninformed. I feel like i can actually do this.

It’s the way you think that restricts you.
